The Reasons Why Emotional Bullying Occurs in Young People


The meaning of the word Bullying is when people deliberately use words or actions repeatedly against an individual or a group to cause physical, social and psycological harm. Also exist differents types of bullying for example ciberbullying, verbal, physical, sexual, social bullying; and all this types of bullying have an effect emotional in our minds, for this reasons we can say that is emotional bullying.

On the other hand, the bullying can take place at school, at home and at work; also can give with children, youth, adults, and every type of people. However, physical scars go away over time and people generally learn how to deal with those situations by speaking to an authority figure or by dealing with it themselves in other ways. But emotional scars may take a long time or professional help to heal. If the emotional abuse is long-lasting, it can even lead to extremes, such as suicide. This type of bullying has also been known to cause:
  • Long-term, clinical depression.
  • A lack of self-esteem.
  • Bad grades in school or poor performance on the job.
  • Feelings of isolation.
  • Self harm, such as cutting or suicide.

So that it does not reach the point of suicide or some of the causes mentioned above, we must pay close attention to our surroundings and be able to help provide a quick solution to any type of bullying that can occur. For identify an emotional bully we will give 4 ways: 
  1. Manipulation: You slowly lose your self-respect and feel outnumbered, sad and alone.
  2. Unreasonable Expectations: You feel constantly critized, helpless and powerless. At the end of the day, you feel awful and defeated because you are in a no-win situation.
  3. The Blame Game: You start to question yourself and character as a person. You begin to find fault in your morals and values.
  4. Silent Epidemic.

In conclusion, it is necessary to teach how to solve conflicts in a constructive way, that is, thinking, dialoguing and negotiating. Bullying is common in this society; it destroys people's self-esteem and confidence and can lead to depression and anxiety. Children and adolescents who feel safe and supported by their families, school and peers are less likely to be bullies. However, some young people do not have this type of support. Each person is unique, and there are many factors that can contribute to bullying stituations. For this reason, teacher and parents have a special responsibility in the care of children and that includes helping those who are victims of unwanted behavior at school.
